School Mission Statement
At St. Charles Elementary School, our focus is on enhancing the child's physical, emotional, creative, and intellectual growth, in a warm and caring atmosphere, where students and staff are encouraged and expected to achieve at their maximum level of capability.

St. Charles is one of three elementary schools in the town of Amherst, Nova Scotia, and is easy to
recognize because there is a mural of children playing painted on the side. This mural was created by students of the school under the direction of  local artist , Shirley Hallee .

St Charles has a population of about 200 students with nine full time classroom teachers for primary to grade six. This is the first year we have had a French Immersion primary class in the school and it provides French instruction for all interested primary students in the area. We also have three specialists which provide Physical Education, Music, and Core French ( 4-6). We are fortunate to have a Reading Recovery teacher and a Program Support teacher. All of the school is under the excellent guidance of principal, Marlene Barnett. Click here for staff.
